Stronger local authorities for a more effective European integration process
The Network of Local Ambassadors for European Integration brings together mayors, female mayors, and local public administration staff who contribute to promoting European values and integrating local community interests into the Republic of Moldova’s EU accession process.
A platform for cooperation and local representation
The network was launched at the end of 2025 by the Congress of Local Authorities from Moldova, in partnership with SALAR International, within the framework of the PACE Local project.
The aim of the network is to strengthen the capacity of local public administration and facilitate the active involvement of local communities in reforms and processes related to European integration.

Levels of action within the network
Political level
It brings together mayors of cities, municipalities, and communes, contributing to the promotion of local public authority interests within reform processes and European integration.
Activities at this level support:
- dialogue with central authorities
- representation of local interests
- promotion of the role of local public administration in the European integration process
Technical level
It brings together employees from local mayoralties and aims to strengthen the institutional and professional capacities of local administrations.
Activities focus on:
- understanding EU standards and policies
- implementing European programmes
- monitoring reforms
- developing professional skills
Framework of activities
Consultations and institutional dialogue
Participation in strategic consultations and the formulation of proposals on reforms related to European integration and their impact on local public administration.
European cooperation
Participation in consultative meetings and dialogues with the European Commission, as well as collaboration with representative European associations of local authorities.
Capacity development
Organisation of trainings, mentoring sessions, and study visits to European Union Member States for the exchange of experience and best practices.
Events and public engagement
Organisation of public events and the annual forum “Local Leaders for European Integration”, dedicated to dialogue and cooperation between local authorities and European partners.
