Sixty members of the Network of Local Ambassadors for European Integration participated in the training workshop “Energy Efficiency Priorities: The Role of Local Public Authorities in Advancing Energy Efficiency,” organized by SALAR International through the Swedish-funded PACE Local Project, in partnership with the Congress of Local Authorities from Moldova (CALM).
During the workshop, Vitalie Mîța, State Secretary at the Ministry of Energy, presented the European and national policy directions in the field of energy efficiency, as well as their implications for local public authorities. The discussion focused on the need to plan investments, align energy priorities with local budgets, and prepare projects capable of attracting funding for the modernization of local communities.
Alexandrina Berzedeanu, Senior Specialist at the National Center for Sustainable Energy, presented the practical tools that local public authorities need to effectively plan, monitor, and manage energy efficiency measures. Participants discussed the development of Integrated Local Energy and Climate Plans, data collection and reporting, as well as the role of the municipal energy manager in the preparation and implementation of local projects.
Energy efficiency means more than reducing energy consumption. It also means better management of public expenditure, more comfortable public buildings, improved services for citizens, and communities that are better prepared to attract sustainable investments.
